  • WHAT THE WHAT YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME john pham author , you have some serious explaining to do i was all prepared to open sublife 2 and read the continuing adventures of your charming characters from the first installment, and you give me this an expansion of the endpaper space story from the first book and some madmaxian post apocalyptic tale and childhood reflections seriously and i know you didn t forget about your earlier characters, because you flashed a titty, so to speak, by slappi [...]

  • I think I liked this book better than the first Sublife 1 but still, it falls just short of a 4 star rating for me.Again, it s a collection of unrelated graphic stories i.e comics , one about a couple of astronauts who are lost in space and another, the last one which is graphic in both senses of the word that s set in a sort of Mad Max inspired wasteland The story itself I liked, but the jump from modern realism to hyper violent apocalypse I found a little jarring Anyways If you liked the first [...]

  • Shockingly absorbing I borrowed this one from a friend whose comics interest is pretty different than mine At first I wasn t a big fan of the art, but the simplicity of the figures was so perfectly suitable for the content and the narrative tricks Pham does some pretty interesting things to break up the flow and give the reader agency in the reading process The book itself becomes a manipulable object and a part of the story I can appreciate the experimentation and creativity of the narrative st [...]

  • What a curious little volume While the entire anthology was extremely well executed, I really could have just done with one big, collected, complete narrative of Deep Space I want to read the rest of that story, because I think it will blow my mind The narrative concept is wonderful in its own right, but Pham s minimalist style, crisp line work, and restricted colour pallet really bring it to life I picked this up at the library on a whim, because sometimes I judge books by their covers and this [...]

  • The almost wordless, title less mash up of the movie Mad Max and Cormac McCarthy s The Road, done in a scratchy hand as if it was drawn by an autistic child, is one of the strangest, genre twistingest things I have seen Extremely strange and thought provoking.

  • Beautiful art I wasn t so into the stories but then apparently this is a sequel so that explains in part why I felt like I didn t get it.

  • The story about interstellar travel is absolutely phenomenal Reading those 8 10 pages was like experiencing a trippy movie Buy it for that story alone.

  • Better than the first one by a long shot Some really trippy 2001 A Space Oddysey like stuff as well as a touching yeah, I used the word touching Mad Max story Worth investigating.
