  • I liked the author s arguments about Insomnia but he stretched the book too much This book should be of 1 3rd of its size, every other statement is just the repeated version of older statement The whole book can be summarised in 3 points 1 Insomnia is normal, nearly everyone suffers from it at various points in their life.2 Your struggle with insomnia makes it worse Accepting insomnia is the only permanent cure.3 Practising mindfulness will help you to deal with anxiety related to insomnias, tha [...]

  • Great approach CBT techniques seem to push away thoughts and feeling which inevitably makes them come back stronger eventually This approach teaches how to be at peace with all your uncomfortable thoughts and feelings in order to gain better sleep.

  • Disappointing read First of all, I m very skeptical of the overall claim of the book, that in some form, insomnia is caused by the fear and anxiety of insomnia itself While I don t doubt that can be the case, he authors suggest that this is universal, almost without exception Likely due to some form selection bias from his anecdotes Second, the book is incredibly repetitive You could have easily condensed everything that was said in 1 3 of the pages Sometimes I felt like he was just repeating th [...]

  • I like the mindfulness approach to fighting insomnia, instead of relying on a bunch of cheap tricks That s also an approach you can use for other areas of your life Definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve their sleep.

  • I came to this book as a mindfulness teacher who sometimes works with people suffering insomnia, not as an insomniac myself though I sometimes have trouble getting to sleep So I can t vouch for whether it works What I can say, though, is that this is a wonderfully thoughtful, clear and coherent application of mindfulness principles, as they are understood with in ACT Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Meadows s approach starts from the observation that good sleepers don t do anything special to g [...]

  • I heard about this book on Radio 2 and wanted to read it to tackle my insomnia I found during a recent bad night that just relaxing and not struggling with my insomnia led to feeling much alert the next day so I am optimistic this works I had approached it as providing me with tools to fight my insomnia and found it said the secret was to accept it I read it in a week although it is a five week programme knowing that if I didn t read it like that I wouldn t get round to it so I now have to do w [...]

  • This book changed my life Thanks to reading it, I no longer have chronic insomnia Even though I still have the occasional bad night s sleep, I am much better able to cope with it, without allowing it become a full blown problem once again Cure your insomnia by learning to accept it and do nothing about it It sounded weird to me at first, but it totally worked for me The tactics I learned in this book were also helpful in other stressful aspects of my life I recommend it

  • Logical approach to insomnia, may not be appropriate for everyone especially if resistant to new agey ideas but I look forward to trying them.
